Welcome to the Animal Emergency Clinic of Durham Region (AECDR). We are an accredited small animal emergency clinic that operates when the daily clinics are closed. Our hours are 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. weekdays and 24 hours on weekends and holidays. We service Durham Region and have member and non-member clinics that refer their patients to us for care.
The AECD was opened in 1995 in a smaller location in Whitby, and expanded to its current larger facility in 2008. We are owned by member clinics in this area, and are managed by a Board that oversees our operations. We provide emergency care to our patients after-hours and discharge all patients back to their regular clinics in the morning when we close.
Our staff consists of Emergency Veterinarians, Technicians and Animal Care Attendants who have many years of experience in emergency practice. Each member of our team maintains / upgrades their skills and knowledge through on-going continuing education and training throughout the year.
It is our mission to provide excellent emergency care to our patients; compassionate service to our clients and patients; and to support our member clinics when they are closed. We are also focused on continuing education for our staff and our members in this area.
If you have, or believe you have, an after-hours veterinary emergency, please call or come to us immediately.
